Egypt to become Africa’s hub for manufacturing China’s COVID-19 vaccine: Health Min. – Egypttoday

CAIRO - 20 July 2020:  Egypt is expected to be the African hub for manufacturing China's vaccine for Covid-19 shortly after proven effective against the pandemic; Egypt's Health Ministry Spokesperson Khaled Megahed said.

He added in statements to extra news channel, Monday, that both of Egypt and China have agreed that Egypt will become the African manufacturing hub. The vaccine will be produced by the government affiliated company, VACSERA“, according to a statement issued by the Ministry.

Egypt's health Minister Hala Zayed meet earlier Monday with Chinese ambassador in Cairo Liao Liqiang, as both officials discussed the Chinese vaccine which is currently being tested; and after proven effective, Egypt will become the manufacturing country in Africa for it, according to the Ministry.

For his part, the Chinese ambassador expressed his pride in cooperation and partnership with Egypt to overcome the Coronavirus.

He also thanked the Minister of Health and Population for her visit to China at the beginning of the Coronavirus crisis, within the framework of Egypt's support to China and handing it a gift from president Abdel Fattah al Sisi to the Chinese people.
