LE 50 million boost for mental health hospitals in budget across Egypt

The House of Representatives’ Health Committee has approved an additional LE50 million in the budget for the new fiscal year 2024-2025 for mental health hospitals.

The total appropriations for the mental health hospitals’ budget for fiscal year 2024-2025 is approximately LE 1,477,880,000, compared to LE 1,120,400,000 for the current fiscal year 2023-2024, an increase of LE 327,480,000.

The total estimated budget for the Addiction and Treatment Fund for the new fiscal year 2024-2025 is approximately EGP 322 million and 850 thousand.

This was announced during a meeting of the House of Representatives’ Health Committee on Tuesday to discuss two draft laws linking the state’s general budget and the economic and social development plan for the fiscal year 2024/2025, with regard to: the General Department of the Ministry of Health and Population, the General Secretariat for Mental Health, the Therapeutic Institution, the Secretariat of Specialized Medical Centers, Blood Bank Services Development Centers, Medical Emergency Fund and Addiction and Treatment Fund.
