KUNA : Malaysia decreases COVID-19 restrictions as of April First – General – 08/03/2022 – Kuwait News Agency

KUALA LUMPUR, March 8 (KUNA) -- Malaysia announced on Tuesday that it would lessen COVID-19 restrictions come April first to bring back life to normal.

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in a press conference that Malaysia would reopen its borders for travelers vaccinated twice for coronavirus without having to quarantine. Passengers must conduct a PCR test prior to departure and they must carry out a similar test within 24 hours of arrival, he indicated.

Malaysia will be entering an endemic period, leading to the return of normal life, he affirmed.

Yaakob said that though the Omicron variant infections had increased in the last few weeks, critical cases were at 0.7 percent.

He added that the vaccination campaign had managed to cover 98.7 percent of adults getting two jabs, noting that booster jabs reached 64 percent amongst adults in Malaysia. (end) aab.gta
