Kuwait eases all Covid-19 restrictions with airports at full capacity, no mask mandate for outdoor activity

Kuwait has entered the last phase of its five-phase plan to return to normal life with all the Covid-19 restrictions in the country now eased. Starting from Sunday, October 24, airports have started operating at full capacity, the official Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) confirmed. Kuwait’s land borders and sea terminals are also now open and operating at full capacity. Worshippers in mosques can also now pray in “stacked rows” without distancing, KUNA said. Kuwait has also lifted the requirement to wear masks while doing activities in outdoor areas, although social distancing and wearing of masks will remain mandatory in closed places such as shopping malls, restaurants and cafes. Conferences, social events and wedding parties also permitted, although only vaccinated people can attend. Last week, Kuwait’s government also confirmed that it start issuing entry visas for all arrivals fully inoculated with the approved vaccines (Pfizer-BioNTech, Oxford-AstraZeneca, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson). Kuwait announced a five-phased plan in May last year to gradually reopen the economy after imposing a complete curfew to curb the spread of the coronavirus. The country postponed the fifth and final phase – which it was slated to enter in September 2020 – after a surge in Covid-19
