UNICEF provides Lebanese children with free vaccines

In collaboration with the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health and the Lebanese Red Cross, UNICEF aims to reach all children up until 18 years of age with essential routine vaccines to decrease the risk of vaccine-preventable diseases.

The Lebanese Red Cross is checking the vaccination status of all school students, and children with missed vaccines are being provided with the required safe routine vaccines for free.

"Vaccines are available in more than 800 Primary healthcare centers and dispensaries free of charge," the organization stated.

Edouard Beigbeder, UNICEF Representative in Lebanon, previously stated that three years of devastating economic crisis in Lebanon had a profound impact on national immunization coverage.

"We need immunization to catch up the missing children, or we will inevitably witness more outbreaks, more sick children, and greater pressure on already strained health systems," he added while stressing that vaccines are "the world's safest method to protect children from life-threatening diseases."
