110 health workers take part on ‘patient safety’ workshop

Muscat – The Higher Institute for Health Specialties (HIHS), organised a workshop on “Patient safety: Quality of healthcare and infection prevention and control in the new millennium” at Muscat Holiday Hotel on Thursday.

The workshop was attended by Dr Abdullah bin Salem al Qayoudhi, Director of the Department of Prevention and Infection Control at the Ministry of Health and Dr Manal bint Abdul Majeed al Zadjali, the Dean of HIHS, along several officials of the ministry and the institute.

The workshop gathered 110 healthcare workers from various specialties and both governmental and private sectors representing health institutions in all governorates of Oman.

The one-day workshop aimed to highlight the practices of healthcare workers in preventing and managing various diseases, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic that has significantly impacted people worldwide.

Dr Abdullah al Qayoudi, indicated that the spread of infectious diseases and antibiotic resistance has now become one of the most crucial problems facing health institutions in the new millennium. However, he highlighted that these problems can be mitigated by adhering to the instructions and advice provided by trainees specialising in prevention and infection control.
