Has the COVID-19 pandemic changed the work culture in Oman?

Dr Mahad bin Said Ali Ba’owain, Minister of Labour, presided over the opening of the three-day conference ‘OSHRM’ on Wednesday.

The conference is now in its sixth edition, titled “The New Era of Work” has been organised by the Ministry of Labour in cooperation with the Oman Society for Human Resources Management and at Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The conference aims to discuss the development of human resources, enhancement of human capital, and embracing the new work culture.

In light of the events of the past years, including numerous financial and economic crises and significant political upheavals, it becomes crucial to emphasise the importance of human resources, as they form the foundation of any institution.

The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly influenced and altered working methods, leaving a significant impact. The idea is to create a comprehensive framework to encompass the advancements in technology and best practices that have been established during the pandemic, to maximise their benefits.

The Labour Minister stated that the development and improvement of human resources are top priorities for the government. As they are the driving force behind any urban development.
