MoH launches mental health first aid training programmeMuscat – The Ministry of Health (MoH), represented by Al Masarra Hospital, on Wednesday launched the first National Mental Health First Aid Training Programme under the auspices of H E Dr Saeed Harib al Lamki, MoH’s Undersecretary for Health Affairs, with the presence of Dr Bader al Habsi, director of the hospital.

The theme for the national programme is ‘A conscious community’ and aims to develop the health sector, engage health personnel of various categories in decision making, and create solutions for the challenges faced by the health sector.

The Mental Health First Aid Training Programme empowers participants with the necessary knowledge, skills, and confidence to provide psychological support and respond in an emergency through high-quality evidence-based rehabilitation and education, thus creating a conscious community.

The two-day training programme, that targeted 20 medical and allied medical staff is distinguished by its effectiveness and quality in improving primary preventive mental health in an innovative way using artificial intelligence techniques.

The notion of the programme was one of the initiatives proposed at the first health innovation forum by the Pharmacist Zainab al Wahaibi from Al Masarra Hospital, where it received positive feedback from the ministry.
