Oman reports record number of COVID patients in ICUs

Muscat: The Sultanate for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic recorded more than 770 cases in hospitals, of whom 264 are in intensive care units (ICUs) during the last 24 hours, according to data from the Ministry of Health. Meanwhile, the nighttime ban on all commercial activities and movement of people and vehicles came into effect from 9 pm and 4 am on Wednesday. The lockdown will continue throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan. On Wednesday, statistics made available on Tarassud, the coronavirus monitoring app launched by the Ministry, showed that the number of those hospitalised during the past 24 hours reached 105, with 264 patients admitted to ICUs, bringing the total number of patients admitted to health institutions to 778, which is the first time in the Sultanate. While, the total number of currently infected cases of COVID-19 in the Sultanate is 18, 181, by 10, 35 per cent. The Sultanate also recorded nine deaths during the past 24 hours bringing the total to 1, 807 and 1, 269 new cases of coronavirus, according to the daily report of the Ministry of Health.
