Oman’s Health Ministry Lays Foundation Stone of Central Public Health Laboratory Project

The Ministry of Health (MOH) celebrated laying of the foundation stone of a world-class Central Public Health Laboratory compound in the Wilayat of A’Seeb, Governorate of Muscat.

The project’s cost stands at RO 18.2 million on an area of 18,155 sq. meters.

Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health, the chief guest affirmed that the Central Public Health Laboratory is one of the vital national security pillars, accorded attention by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.

He said that the lab aims to develop and promote the health sector in line with the requirements of the times and to foster local sufficiency of lab tests.

The minister added that the world-class central public health laboratory would be a reference and diagnostic laboratory for conducting necessary investigations to support the surveillance and epidemiological investigation programmes locally and regionally.

Further, the Minister of Health pointed out that the new lab will perform diagnosis and investigation works using the latest technologies and strictly comply with the quality and biosafety standards.

The lab, he added, will provide training and continuous education for the technicians at the national and regional levels.
