Over 4,500 bags of chewing tobacco seized from expat in Muscat

Muscat – The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has arrested an expat for trading and selling chewing tobacco in the wilayat of Amerat, in Muscat governorate.

CPA stated that the Consumer Protection Department in Muscat arrested an expatriate worker ‘who traded and sold non-smoking, chewing tobacco to consumers’.

CPA officials had received information that an expatriate in Amerat was using his house for selling prohibited cigarettes and chewing tobacco to consumers. ‘Over 4,530 bags of chewing tobacco were seized, as well as RO1,800 in cash.’

‘This is a violation of decision No 301/2016 and its amendments regarding the ban on trading chewing tobacco in any form and under any name,’ a CPA statement said.
