WHO reviews UTAS Nizwa’s healthy living programme

Muscat: Dr. Hafedh bin Saeed Al-Rahbi, Dean of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences Nizwa branch received a delegation from the World Health Organization recently.

The delegation visited the Sultanate in conjunction with the project to assess Nizwa Health City’s bid for recognition within the system of healthy cities globally.

The Nizwa Healthy Lifestyle Project is one of the health projects launched by the Wilayat of Nizwa to instill the concept of healthy living and environmental health to the community.

It adopts the vision of the Nizwa City Health office’s project to implement health programmes anchored on community participation with government and private sectors, and aims at achieving substantial success in promoting health and the adoption of a healthy lifestyle among the members of the community.

This project targets reduction of health, environmental and social risks while achieving sustainable development in the state by spreading culture, health, and social environment awareness, identifying health challenges related to lifestyles for all ages, improving the physical, social and economic environment affecting health, contributing to research and studies related to promoting community health, and attracting and empowering volunteers to achieve the health city’s goals.
