HMC reminds public to get a flu shot – The Peninsula

Doha: Hamad Medical Corporation has reminded public to get the influenza vaccine, adding that hundreds of individuals are hospitalised in Qatar annually due to flu and its complications.

People can get the influenza vaccine for free at primary health centres, HMC’s outpatient clinics, and at more than 40 private and semi-private clinics and hospitals across Qatar.

“Don’t underestimate the flu this year it’s more important than ever to get the free flu vaccine… Get your free flu shot today,” the HMC said.

“More than 500 people are hospitalised in Qatar each year for flu and its complications; It’s not too late to get your flu shot…Flu vaccination can reduce flu illnesses, doctors’ visits and missed work and school due to flu, as well as prevent flu-related hospitalisations and deaths,” HMC said.

The circulating flu viruses change from year to year which is why it is important to receive the flu vaccine annually. Flu is a serious disease that can lead to hospitalisation and sometimes even death, and should never be underestimated.
