MoPH launches mental health, well being programme

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) announced Sunday the launch of Ma'ak Educational programmeme to enhance mental health and wellness in the State of Qatar.

The programme is a collaboration between the National Mental Health programme and Mental Health Educations Teams at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) to promote mental health and wellbeing awareness and information in Qatar.

The programme is designed to provide education and awareness programmes targeting different population groups and aims to reduce stigma attached to mental health conditions.

Director of the Public Health Department at the MoPH Sheikh Dr. Mohamed bin Hamad Al-Thani, said that this initiative is another step in a concerted effort to provide valuable mental health literacy to the population.

"Supporting the mental health and wellbeing of Qatar's population is high on the agenda for the ministry and our healthcare partners," he said, adding that both the National Health Strategy 2018-2022 and the Public Health Strategy 2017-2022 identify mental health and wellbeing among their key priorities.
