MoPH reports 160 new Covid-19 cases, 147 recoveries

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) reported today 160 new confirmed cases of Coronavirus (Covid-19) during the past 24 hours, and recorded 147 recoveries from the virus, bringing the total number of cases recovered in Qatar to 360875.

In a statement, the MoPH said that 158 of the new confirmed cases are among community and two cases among travelers. It pointed out that 6,676,605 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered since the start of the vaccination program, adding that 1982 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the past 24 hours.

The ministry further added that 1,480,421 Covid-19 booster vaccine doses have been administered to date, explaining that 88.9 percent of the total population are now fully vaccinated with two doses.

In its statement, the MOPH explained that there is clear evidence of the protective effects of the vaccines and the majority of patients being admitted to ICU with Covid-19 are either unvaccinated or had their second dose more than 6 months ago and have not received a booster dose.

It also noted that the latest evidence shows that the country has passed the peak of the third wave of the pandemic, as the number of daily new cases of the virus
