MoPH reports 343 new Covid-19 cases

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) reported today 343 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours, and recorded 539 recoveries from the virus bringing the total number of cases recovered in Qatar to 350154.

In a statement, the MoPH said that 288 of the new confirmed cases are among community and 55 among travelers.

The MoPH reported that 6,2276,851 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered since the start of the vaccination program, adding that 14,112 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the past 24 hours. The ministry added that 1,190,528 COVID-19 booster vaccine doses have been administered to date. It explained that 87.8 percent of the total population are now fully vaccinated with two doses.

In a statement, the MOPH noted that there is clear evidence of the protective effects of the vaccines and the majority of patients being admitted to ICU with COVID-19 are either unvaccinated or had their second dose more than 6 months ago and have not received a booster dose.

It also noted that the latest evidence shows that the country has passed the peak of the third wave of the pandemic, as the number of daily new cases of the virus continues to decrease,
