MoPH reports 77 new Covid cases

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) reported Thursday 77 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 during the past 24 hours, and recorded 106 recoveries from the virus, bringing the total number of cases recovered in Qatar to 362,338. In a statement, the MoPH said that 75 of the new confirmed cases are among community and two cases among travelers. It pointed out that 6,726,653 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered since the start of the vaccination program, adding that 12,906 vaccine doses have been administered in the past 24 hours.

The ministry further added that 1,515,153 booster vaccine doses have been administered to date, explaining that 89.1% of the total population are now fully vaccinated with two doses. In its statement, the MoPH explained that there is clear evidence of the protective effects of the vaccines and the majority of patients being admitted to ICU with Covid-19 are either unvaccinated or had their second dose more than 6 months ago and have not received a booster dose.

It also noted that the latest evidence shows that the country has passed the peak of the third wave of the pandemic, as the number of daily new cases of the virus continues to decrease,
