Compulsory health insurance covers orphans of unknown parents – Saudi Gazette

Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — The Health Insurance Council said that the compulsory health insurance covers orphans of unknown parents or orphans of known mothers who were born in Saudi Arabia.

The council clarified that the insurance also includes those whose care was assigned by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) to sponsored families covered by health insurance, and are still under the care of those families.

Additionally, the insurance also includes orphans who are fostered by families benefiting from private health insurance, the council confirmed.

It is worth mentioning that in October 2022, the council started adding 18 new benefits to the health insurance policy.

This is in addition to making improvements to 10 other benefits such as obesity operations, and kidney transplantation, as well as raising the maximum coverage for mental health from SR15,000 to SR50,000.
