King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre wins five awards for its excellence in patient safety

Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia:– King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSH&RC) was recognized by the Saudi Patient National Safety Center (SPSC) for its successful efforts to ensure the highest standard of patient safety.

SPSC established its annual Patient Safety Awards to highlight novel and innovative applied projects and initiatives that have contributed to the National Transformation Vision 2030 and Health Sector Transformation Program's aim of reducing patient harm.

At the awards ceremony held in Riyadh on Tuesday, 24 January, KFSH&RC won five awards for implementing innovative projects and effecting advancements that included:

- Building a leading-edge Framework for Performance Improvement Operations.

- Decreasing central line-associated bloodstream infections.

- Establishing a hip fracture pathway to improve patient treatment and care.

- Implementing interprofessional education that encourages members of KFSH&RC’s healthcare delivery team to collaborate to accomplish common goals to improve the patient’s experience and outcomes.

- Ensuring zero harm with Antithrombotic Medication.

The Saudi Patient Safety Center was established in 2017 to fulfil patient safety-related initiatives as part of KSA's national strategies.
