Tuesday, Saudi Arabia announced that it will be banning its citizens from traveling abroad for three years in addition to hefty fines in case they break coronavirus travel restrictions, according to the Ministry of Interior.

The decision came after a number of citizens broke some rules and traveled to prohibited countries, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The ministry also added that the current travel ban in place remains for countries with a high number of COVID-19 cases and includes direct travel or transits via other countries.
