Dubai: New compulsory quarantine rules introduced – reports

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has said that residents and visitors who come in close contact with Covid-19 patients in Dubai must undergo a mandatory ten days of home quarantine even if their test results are negative.

The decision was communicated via a circular issued by the health authority, reported Khaleej Times.

The circular confirmed that all close contacts of Covid-19 patients must self-monitor for any respiratory symptoms during their ten-day home quarantine.

"Contacts who develop any related symptoms during the 10 days quarantine should be tested for Covid-19.“

The new guidelines apply to any close contact who has come into interfaced with Covid-19 infected individual anywhere between two days before the onset of the illness and date of positive swab to 14 days later.

The DHA defines close contacts as any one of the following categories of individuals:

- Those who have been within two metres of a Covid-19 patient for more than 15 minutes.

- Those who have had direct physical contact with a Covid-19 case.

- Those who have provided direct care for patients with Covid-19 and who haven't used proper personal protective equipment (PPE).

- Those who live in the same household as a Covid-19 patient.
