Coronavirus: UAE reports 319 Covid-19 cases, 344 recoveries, no deaths

Over 159.1 million PCR tests have been conducted in the country so far

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Monday reported 319 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 344 recoveries and no deaths.

Over 159.1 million PCR tests have been conducted in the country so far.

Total active cases stand at 14,0529.

The new cases were detected through 124,534 additional tests.

The total number of cases in UAE as on May 16 are 902,803, while total recoveries stand at 886,472. The death toll now stands at 2,302.

China’s retail and factory activity fell sharply in April as wide Covid-19 lockdowns confined workers and consumers to their homes and severely disrupted supply chains, casting a long shadow over the outlook for the world’s second-largest economy.

Full or partial lockdowns were imposed in major centres across the country in March and April, including the most populous city Shanghai, hitting production and consumption and heightening risks for those parts of the global economy heavily dependent on China.

Retail sales in April shrank 11.1 per cent from a year earlier, the biggest contraction
