Mediclinic Middle East has been recognised by the Department of Health (DoH) at an awards ceremony held at COP28, with Mediclinic Al Noor Hospital and Mediclinic Al Ain Hospital announced as winners of the Medium Hospital category at the Muashir Emerald Awards, which are focused on sustainability and green building initiatives specifically for healthcare. They are designed to measure how effectively healthcare organisations contribute to a healthier environment by implementing sustainability standards without compromising healthcare principles and concerns.

Globally, healthcare is one of the largest industrial emitters of greenhouse gases. Mediclinic, a diversified international private healthcare services group, established in South Africa in 1983, with divisions in Switzerland, Southern Africa (South Africa and Namibia) and the UAE, is committed to mitigating the impact of its business on the environment by focusing on its carbon footprint, use of energy and water resources, and waste management. It has pledged to reach zero waste to landfill and carbon neutrality by 2030, in accordance with the DoH’s sustainability goals to achieve net zero.
