The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi launches its “Drug and Poison Information Service”

- Led by Research and Innovation Centre at the Department of Health, the information service unit will provide guidance services by specially trained poison experts in the field of toxicology and overdose management through the 800424 hotline

- The service aims to enhance the clinical, technological, educational and research capabilities in toxicology to provide the highest standards and practices in poisoning prevention and treatment

Abu Dhabi, UAE: In the presence of HE Dr. Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi, Undersecretary of The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), the regulator of the healthcare sector in the Emirate, the Department launched the “Poison and Drug Information Service” aimed at preventing and treating poison incidents of all kinds. The service was announced during DoH’s Research and Innovation Centre’s participation in the Middle East and North Africa Clinical Toxicology Conference (MENATOX), held in Abu Dhabi from 11 to 14 January 2023.

Through the launch of this service, the Department’s Research and Innovation Centre (RIC) aims to raise awareness on the safe use of drugs and the necessary procedures to prevent poisoning.
