Phase 4 of $207mn Tubli Wastewater Plant hits 2.5mn safe man-hours – MEP MiddleEast

Bahrain’s Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs, and Urban Planning, Esam bin Abdulla Khalaf, has inspected the construction progress on Phase 4 of the $270mn (BD78mn) Tubli Wastewater Plant Expansion project, which has completed a project milestone of 2.5 million safe man-hours without any lost-time incident (LTI) or injuries.

The project aims to accommodate the increased flow of waste water, taking the average daily flow capacity of 200,000 m3/day to reach a full average daily flow capacity of 400,000 m3/day.

Phase 4 of the Tubli Wastewater Plant Expansion project is being implemented by a consortium comprising WTE Wassertechnik, the Azmeel Contracting and Construction Corporation, and Tecton Engineering and Construction.

The construction of the plant is being jointly funded by Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, as part of the Gulf Development Programme. The operation and maintenance of the old and new plant will be funded by the Government of Bahrain for 10 years.



A consortium of KEO International Consultants and p2mberlin are the project management and construction management consultants.

The Minister of Works, Esam bin Abdulla Khalaf, said that the project is among the Works Ministry’s major strategic sanitation projects aimed at enhancing the performance of the Tubli Wastewater Plant and increasing the production of treated
