Kaolin’s reserves in Egypt reach 200 mln tons: Official – Egypt Today





CAIRO - 10 April 2024: Kaolin, or China Clay, as it is commonly called, is a type of fine, white, soft rock; its reserves in Egypt reach about 200 million tons.

Kaolin is a hydrated aluminum silicate crystalline mineral formed over many millions of years by the hydrothermal decomposition of granite rocks.produced from feldspar rocks.

 

According to information, kaolin is mainly used in making porcelain, pottery, and in the manufacture of Chinese ceramics. Kaolin is also used in the paper industry and can be used in water treatment and the manufacture of pharmaceutical tablets, chemicals, soap, cement and dozens of industries.

Kaolin deposits are also found in three main locations. the first of which is in Wadi Netash, Masbaa Salama, and Farsh Al-Ghizlan, all in the Sinai Peninsula, the second is on the western coast of the Gulf of Suez in Abu Al-Darraj and Galala Al-Bahriyya, and the third is in the Kalabsha and Aswan region.
