MEA power industry tenders up 2pc in August

There has been a 2 per cent jump in tender activity linked to power industry projects across Middle East and Africa (MEA) region in August with 83 tenders announced compared to last 12-month quarter average of 81, according to GlobalData's power database.

 

The growth was mainly driven by one segment - Transmission and Distribution (T&D), it stated.

 

Looking at tenders by country, Oman led the Middle East with 11 tenders and Iraq with six, while Africa was dominated by South Africa which led the activity last month with 38 tenders and a share of 45.8%, up 9.5% over the previous month and up 65% when compared to the last 12 month-average, followed by Kenya with seven tenders and a share of 8.4%.
