Greenergy, ABSL to build 5 UK advanced biofuels plants
London, 11 November (Argus) — UK-based waste biodiesel producer Greenergy and technology company Advanced Biofuels Solutions Ltd (ABSL) have agreed to develop, construct and operate up to five municipal waste-based biofuel plants in the UK.
Design work is underway for the first plant, to be located near Liverpool, where commercial production is scheduled to begin in 2025. Subsequent plants are planned over the following years.
The first plant will convert 133,000 t/yr of municipal solid waste into biomethane for gas vehicles or bio-hydrogen for hydrogen vehicles, using ABSL's proprietary RadGas technology. The output of the five plants will be equivalent to powering 5,000 heavy goods vehicles.
