Alghanim Industries sponsors Takween Reading Marathon

KUWAIT: Alghanim Industries (Kutayba Alghanim Group), one of the largest private companies in the region, recently sponsored the 10th biannual Takween Charity Reading Marathon organized and hosted by Takween Bookstore at Design District, Shuwaikh. The two-day marathon, from 16 to 17 December, hosted a multitude of avid readers all enjoying a family friendly event with a focus on education.

The event marks the first collaboration between Alghanim Industries and Takween Bookstore, a unique and community-driven event in which sponsors pledge to donate KD 1 for every 10 pages read by participants during the marathon. This year’s marathon welcomed a total of 786 participants who read a grand total of 54,310 pages. The considerable donations are all channeled into pathways that provide financial aid to underserved students, alleviating the many academic fees that hinder their educational experience.

Alongside its key sponsorship of a cause central to Alghanim Industries’ many commitments toward more equitable education for all, the company donated 10 Kindle e-reader devices to be raffled for all participants in the charity event, courtesy of X-cite by Alghanim Electronic.
