Nizwa – As part of its efforts to plant 10mn indigenous trees, Environment Authority (EA) has launched a campaign to plant samar, sidr and ghaf saplings in a wadi in Dakhliyah.

In a statement, EA said, ‘The Environment Department in Dakhliyah launched a campaign to plant wild saplings in Wadi al Abyad in the wilayat of Nizwa. The initiative is part of the national drive to plant 10mn wild trees in the sultanate.’

According to the EA, the national initiative to plant 10mn Omani wild trees embodies the partnership and cooperation between EA and other national sectors to preserve the environment and achieve sustainable development.

In January 2020, EA in cooperation with Petroleum Development Oman, launched the initiative to plant 10mn wild tree saplings in the next ten years. The authority has set up nurseries across the sultanate for the initiative.
