Project to boost Industrial Area sewage treatment plant capacity completed – The Peninsula

Doha: The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ has completed of the third expansion project in the Industrial Area Sewage Treatment Works, through which the plant’s capacity to treat sewage flows was increased by an additional amount of 30,000 m3/day, bringing the total capacity of the plant to 90,000 m3/day.

The sewage treatment plant is located about 2km southwest of the industrial area in Doha. It started operating in 2014 with an initial capacity of 12,000 m3/day. Ashghal has implemented the first and second expansions in 2015 and 2017 to bring its capacity up to about 60,000 m3/day.

In this context, Eng Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Sulaiti, Head of Treatment Plants and TSE Network Projects Section in the Drainage Networks Projects Department at Ashghal, said that this project is part of Ashghal’s plan to implement a series of expansions for the sewage treatment plant in the Industrial Area. The expansion aims to keep pace with the remarkable increase in the population and urban growth in the industrial area and its infrastructure.
