Qatar’s IPI rises 2.5% Y-o-Y in October – The Peninsula

Doha: Qatar’s Industrial Production Index (IPI) for October 2022 stood at 99 points, showing an decrease of 3.3 percent compared to the previous month (September 2022). When compared year-on-year (Y-o-Y) basis, the IPI index has increased by 2.5 percent, data released by the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) showed.

The index of the ‘Mining’ sector showed a decrease by 4.2 percent compared to the previous month (September 2022), because of the decrease in the quantities of “crude oil petroleum and natural gas” with the same percentage, while “Other mining and quarrying” increased by 2.7 percent.

When compared to the corresponding month of the previous year (October 2021), the IPI of Mining increased by 2.2 percent.

The index of the ‘Manufacturing’ sector showed an increase by 0.9 percent compared to the previous month (September 2022), The groups showed an increase include: “Manufacture of chemicals and chemical products” by 1.8 percent, followed by “Manufacture of beverages” by 1.4 percent, “Manufacture of refined petroleum products” by 1.3 percent, “Manufacture of food products” by 0.3 percent, and “Manufacture of Cement and other non-metallic mineral products” by 0.2 percent. However, a decrease was recorded in, “Manufacture of rubber and plastics products” by 4.6 percent, “Manufacture of basic metals”
