QUYSC concludes ‘I am a researcher’ programme – The Peninsula

Doha: Qatar University Young Scientists Centre (QUYSC) concluded the 20th cycle of the “I am a researcher” programme for the 12th consecutive years in an award ceremony held at Qatar University on Tuesday, May 24, 2022.

The number of participating projects in this cycle was seven from five secondary schools: Qatar Banking Studies and Business Administration for Boys, Jassim Bin Hamad Secondary School for Boys, Omar Bin Al Khattab Secondary School for Boys, Zubaida Secondary School for Girls, and Al-Arqam Academy for Girls. During the ceremony, the winners were announced.

On May 19, 2022, the final competition was held virtually to evaluate the projects. During the evaluation day, the participating groups competed with enthusiasm to present their scientific research before a panel of judges from professors and researchers from Qatar University.

All groups presented all the scientific research steps that they had undertaken in addition to the results they reached in the form of presentations, and they showed film documenting their journey in the field of scientific research.

Among the participating project is research titled “Energy-saving Membrane Distillation Hybrid Process for resource recovery and zero liquid discharge” through this research, the students manufactured a highly efficient polymeric membrane for use in treating polluted water
