The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change's Wildlife Development Department has carried out the second campaign to plant wild trees seedlings at Rawdat Simsama.

Dr Ibrahim Abdulatif al-Mislmani, acting assistant undersecretary for protection and natural protectorates affairs, Wildlife Development Department director Mohamed al-Khanji, and other officials from the department took part alongside 150 volunteers.

Accordingly, 200 seedlings of various local wild trees were planted, with a further 400 other seedlings to be planted.

A clean-up campaign of the place was also carried out and a field tour conducted to introduce the participants to the various types of wild trees.

Rawdat Simsama is fenced off to block the entry of vehicles but everybody can visit and enjoy the nature while abiding by the relevant laws.

Saeed Ibrahim al-Kaabi, head of the wild rehabilitation unit, stressed that Qatar has given special importance in caring for the environment, considered as one of the main pivots of Vision 2030.

The ministry's projects to replant and rehabilitate wild lawns across the country are intended to contribute towards a more sustainable environment in Qatar, he added.
