‎Saudi cement sector shows large supply-demand gap: Official

Cement industry in Saudi Arabia is witnessing many changes that require intensified efforts. The sector is facing lower revenue and higher production input costs, in addition to a large gap between supply and demand, according to the reports that show steady demand levels for three consecutive years, Badr Johar, Head of the National Cement Committee, the Federation of Saudi Chambers (FSC).

The cement sector’s market value stands at nearly SAR 50 billion. It is a vital sector and a main pillar for economic development and the delivery of the Vision 2030 objectives, Johar explained in his meeting with Khalid Al-Mudaifer, Vice Minister for Mining Affairs, today, Oct. 18.

Elsewhere, Al-Mudaifer stressed that the ministry works on achieving the sustainability of the cement sector to boost its profitability, as well as its social, environmental and economic contribution.

The cement sector is a vital industry on which the Kingdom depends in mega and housing projects, Al-Mudiafer said, adding that achieving the sector’s financial stability will be reflected positively on its remaining business activities.
