‎Saudi firm builds MENA’s first freeze drying factory with SAR 300 mln investment

Qitaf Al-Mustaqbal Co. for Food Industries is working on the construction of a factory in Sudair City for Industry and Businesses on an area of 7,500 square meters, using freeze drying techniques, to become the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), the company’s board Chairman, Ziyad Abdulaziz Al Yabis, said.

The commercial production of the plant is expected to begin during the second quarter of 2023, the Chairman added, explaining that Qitaf Al-Mustaqbal is a Saudi company established in April 2021 in Riyadh, with investments of up to SAR 300 million within a five-year plan.

He explained that the company seeks to become the industrial center and research reference in freeze drying technology in the region, which will be a tributary to support supply chains in the Kingdom and the region. The technology serves business, consumers and research in food applications which include vegetables, fruits, liquids, coffee, meat, food meals, astronaut meals, yeasts, herbs and spices as well as in research in medical applications. This comes as inline with the Kingdom's Vision 2030 in sustainability and raising the quality of life and achieving food security, Al Yabis noted.
