UAE’s food packaging industry to hit AED 14bn in upcoming five years

UAE - Mubasher: The UAE will witness a growth in the food packaging industry to AED 14 billion in the upcoming five years, the Managing Director of Hotpack Global, a manufacturer of disposable food packaging products, Abdul Jebbar PB, said.

This announcement was made on the sidelines of Gulfood 2021, being held on 21-25 February at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), according to a press release on Monday.

Jebbar PB remarked that the food packaging industry in the UAE amounted to AED 10 billion in 2020 and is currently valued at AED 300 billion in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) market.

Globally, food packaging is growing at 3 to 5%, with the MEA region recording around 5-7% growth annually.

Jebbar PB further explained that the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has put the industry, valued at $900 million per year, as one of the top priorities of consumers and companies focusing on zero waste compliance and sustainability.
