Lebanon gets COVID-19 assistance from World Bank | Samar Kadi

BEIRUT--Lebanon is to receive urgent World Bank assistance to help it fight the COVID-19 pandemic, as the government approved monthly financial aid to the poorest communities and plans to repatriate Lebanese citizens stranded abroad.. Repatriation priority will be given to citizens who have chronic illnesses, the elderly and families and those who left Lebanon on short-term visas.. Many expats, especially students, have urged Lebanese authorities to evacuate them in recent days, decrying financial difficulties and health concerns.. Lebanon has so far confirmed 520 coronavirus cases, among them 17 deaths..
