Within the framework of the MoU, a large-scale solar […]The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with APM Terminals Bahrain, which owns and operates Khalifa bin Salman Port.

The MoU was signed by Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, President of EWA, and Matthew Luckhurst, Managing Director of APM Terminals Bahrain.

Within the framework of the MoU, a large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) system with a total capacity of 11.5 megawatts (MW) will be installed along multiple connection points spread across an extended area measuring approximately 66,725 square meters.

The EWA President underscored the authority’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the private sector to utilise renewable energy in various domains, in line with the National Renewable Energy Action Plan (NREAP). The NREAP set targets of 5 percent renewable energy by 2025 and 10 percent by 2035.
