Egypt announces 1st bid for waste treatment at Kitchener Drain

The Ministry of Local Development in Egypt announced the launch of the first tender for a group of projects that includes the establishment of four plants for recycling and treating solid waste in the Belqas Center in Dakahlia Governorate, and in the cities of Hamoul, Kafr el-Sheikh and Desouq in Kafr el-Sheikh Governorate, with a design capacity of 600 tons/day

The ministry said in a statement on Tuesday that this comes as part of its framework implementing projects to improve the solid waste system in the governorates of Gharbia, Kafr el-Sheikh and Dakahlia.

This is done through development to improve water quality in the Kitchener Drain, funded by a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development worth 79 million euros and a grant from the European Union worth 8 million euros.

The Ministry of Local Development added that companies wishing to apply for this tender (establishing recycling factories) can obtain the papers required for submission by registering on the electronic contracting platform of EBRD.

The ministry clarified that the submission is only available through the electronic platform, and that the deadline for submission is November 27, and any paper submissions to the Ministry shall not be considered.
