CAIRO – 30 March 2021: The capacity of the electrical linkage between Egypt and Sudan will be raised to 300 megawatts per a contract signed Tuesday between both countries.

 

The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company and Siemens Energy Company signed Tuesday a contract to raise the capacity and stability of the existing electrical interconnection line between Egypt and Sudan. The signing ceremony was attended by the Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker and Sudanese Ambassador to Cairo Mohamed Elias. 

 

The capacity of the linkage will rise from 80 megawatts to 300 megawatts according to the contract.

 

The ministry stated in a statement today that the contract includes the supply and installation of (2) ineffective compensator units (STATECOM) capacity of 2 x + - 150 megafars.
