Egypt’s Sisi reviews country’s strategy for new and sustainable energy

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi held a meeting, on Sunday with various government ministers to follow up on the country’s strategy for new and sustainable energy, as well as electrical feeding for national development projects.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek al-Molla, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala al-Saeed and Finance Minister Mohamed Maait.

They discussed the latest developments in the production of electricity from new and renewable energy, which relies on wind and solar energy, in cooperation with private sector companies and partnership with foreign expertise.

The meeting also reviewed Egypt’s strategy for integrated and sustainable energy, which aims to reach 42 percent of renewable energy from the electrical energy mix in Egypt by 2035, in order to make good use of the nation’s resources and potential of renewable energy.

Towards a greener Egypt

Regarding the exploitation of wind energy, the meeting reviewed efforts to increase the capacities generated by wind turbines by relying on ultra-high turbines with high production capacities, in order to maximize the utilization of wind energy in regions characterized by high wind speed at the level of the Republic.
