Chicago gasoline at wide discount to Atlantic coast

Houston, 18 February (Argus) — Chicago gasoline prices fell to the widest discount to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, prices yesterday, but scant availability on pipelines could stymie a rise in eastward movements from the US midcontinent.

CBOB prices at the Buckeye Complex, which is approximately 30 miles southeast of Chicago in Hammond, Indiana, fetched a 39.75¢/USG discount to Laurel Pipeline CBOB prices at Philadelphia yesterday, marking the widest discount since June 2016.

Yet market participants said Buckeye pipelines running from Ohio locations to Pittsburgh in western Pennsylvania have been allocated for much of February, possibly shutting the door on additional shipments.
