European Union ban on Russian oil and gas will take ‘months’ – Roya News English

The European Union is working to expand sanctions against Russia to include an embargo on oil and gas, but these measures could take "months," European officials told AFP on Friday.

The bloc announced last week a ban on Russian coal, in the first unified European step targeting Russian energy exports, Moscow's main source of hard currency.

But the coal import ban will not take effect until mid-August and will affect about eight billion euros of Russia's sales abroad annually.
