KUWAIT CITY, May 20: All the necessary infrastructure works for the supply, installation and maintenance of photovoltaic panels in Abdally have been completed, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting sources from the Ministry of Electricity and Water. Sources disclosed the project is aimed at producing 180 to 200 megawatts of photovoltaic electricity, indicating the project area spans 2.28 square kilometers and that the ministry has asked the Municipality Council to allocate land for this purpose.

According to the sources, the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) conducted a study on this project. Sources said the ministry relied on this institute’s expertise in the field, as it carried out research to gain a better understanding of the performance of various types of photovoltaic solar energy units in Kuwait’s environmental conditions.
