PROJECTS: 9 firms vie for Kuwait’s Jurassic gas project

Nine companies are competing for a $1 billion contract involving the construction of facilities for the $multi-billion Jurassic gas production project in North Kuwait, a newspaper in the OPEC member reported on Monday.The Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) has invited bids for the Jurassic gas facilities 4&5 and set an insurance fee of 8.5 million Kuwaiti dinars ($28 million) for bidding, the Arabic language daily Alrai said, quoting local oil sources.Tenders for this project were issued nearly two years ago but were postponed due to cost adjustment, the paper said, adding that bidding will close on December 22.International firms bidding for the project include Petrofac of Britain, Samsung Engineering Co and Daewoo Engineering and Construction of South Korea, JGC Corp of Japan, and the US Kellogg Brown&Root (KBR), the
