Generators’ Owners In Beirut Are Now Forbidden To Use Electricity Poles To Extend Their Networks

Beirut Governor Marwan Abboud issued a notification to all owners of electricity generators and their investors within the city of Beirut.

The notification stated that it became clear to the administration that the electricity and municipal lighting poles were severely damaged as a result of “the random loading of electricity cables and networks by the owners of private generators and without a license.”

And he continued, “This constitutes an imminent danger to the aforementioned columns, and threatens to fall, thus exposing public safety to a direct danger.”

Based on the necessities of the public interest and the requirements of public safety, the governor asked all owners of electricity generators and their investors within the city of Beirut to immediately and permanently refrain from using electricity poles and municipal lighting poles to extend the electrical networks of their generators.

He also called to take the measures stipulated in the laws and regulations in force, including organizing seizure records against violators and referring them to the competent penal and financial judiciary, when necessary.

The Public Relations Department of Beirut Municipality stated: “Governor Abboud sent a letter to the Beirut Police Command requesting the suppression of any infringements on electricity poles and municipal lighting poles by the owners
