International meet focuses on green energy and its future in sultanate



Muscat – The University of Technology and Applied Sciences inaugurated the International Conference on Green Energy 2023 at Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah on Wednesday.

The two-day conference was opened by Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar, in the presence of several senior academics and industrialists.

The conference includes discussion sessions on a green economy and its future in the sultanate, as well as presentation of 33 research papers by academics on green hydrogen energy, hydrogen fuel stocks and conversion, and green nanotechnology.

The conference aims to promote research on sustainable energy stocks, protect the environment and preserve natural resources, support research to create renewable energy sources that will positively affect economic development, and encourage the exchange of local and international experiences in the field of sustainable energy.

Dr Mohammed bin Rashid al Maamari, Dean of University of Technology and Applied Sciences Salalah, informed that renewable energy projects receive great and wide interest in Oman Vision 2040, which supports the gradual transition to a low-carbon economy through the launch of a number of projects and initiatives.
