Oman and Germany sign pact on green hydrogen, LNG

Berlin: Omani and German companies signed a number of agreements for delivering green hydrogen to refining stations in Germany.

The memorandum of understanding was signed when Salim bin Naser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals met with Dr. Robert Habeck, Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action in Berlin.

The two sides also signed a memorandum of understanding between Hydrom (Hydrogen Oman) and the German company (VNG) on a feasibility study for establishment of an Omani -German integrated supply chain for green hydrogen and ammonia along with an agreement on the sale and purchase of liquefied natural gas (LNG) between Oman LNG and Securing Energy for Europe (SEFE) Company.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the needs of the energy market of the Federal Republic of Germany and the developments of green hydrogen and energy solutions and issues of common concern.

The meeting was attended by Pankaj Khimji, Advisor for Foreign Trade and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion; Maitha bint Saif Al Mahrooqi, the Sultanate’s ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany and a number of officials concerned with energy sector.
