Order of the Rising Sun conferred on former CEO of Oman LNG

Muscat: The Embassy of Japan in the Sultanate of Oman hosted a ceremony to confer the Order of the Rising Sun on Harib Al Kitani, former Chief Executive Officer of Oman LNG.

The ceremony, held at Crowne Plaza hotel on 7 March 2024, was attended by a number of distinguished guests from the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, the State Council, Oman LNG and Japanese companies, as well as his family and friends. Jota Yamamoto, Ambassador of Japan to the Sultanate of Oman,

conferred the Order on Harib Al Kitani on behalf of the Government of Japan. The Government of Japan announced on 3 November 2023, the conferment of the

Order on Harib Al Kitani in recognition of his outstanding contribution to forge a long-established Japan-Oman partnerships and networks in the energy field, leading to continued collaboration towards clean energy and new business cooperation.

The Order of the Rising Sun, one of the prestigious decorations in Japan, was introduced in 1875. The award of the order for non-Japanese nationals started in 1981.
